I CAN’T BREATHE

💫 Triptych – Huixtocihuatl #3, Breath of the Ocean

The final piece, I Can’t Breathe, is a silent scream. The canvas is almost monochrome, dominated by a haunting whiteness. The goddess has faded. Only her flowing hair remains, drifting like a last trace of life. Her face is absent, erased. No coral, no creatures, no color. The ocean has suffocated.

This painting mourns the slow disappearance of marine life, a stark metaphor for ecological and human asphyxiation. It evokes the devastation caused by destructive fishing practices such as bottom trawling, which ravage the seabed, and electric pulse fishing : a method banned in some regions but still in use elsewhere, despite its proven harm.

This work is both an elegy and a cry for urgent change.

Collection Océano : “For the Oceans to Breathe Again”

A visual tribute to the beauty, richness, and fragility of the seas: a call to awareness and action to protect the oceans, an essential condition for their survival, and therefore for that of humanity.
Mythical gods embody our contradictions, our attachments, our hopes. Their faces are the symbolic guardians of a marine world in peril.
