Roja Libertad

“Roja Libertad” is a free woman who fights every day to remain so. Mistress of her body and her destiny, she rejects imposed diktats and follows her own path. Powerful and loving, she moves forward with the determination of a flamenco dancer, carried by the strength of her freedom.
This character reminds me of Carmen, the fiery spirit from the opera, daring and beautiful. She embodies the resilience and passion of those who refuse to be silenced or constrained. She also represents the woman who protests and fights year after year to defend the right to determine their own bodies, in the context of attempts to legislate against abortion.

This piece is part of the Souveraines Collection, an invitation to reflect on the power, resilience, and universal beauty of women.

Created with oil and a palette knife, this work reveals expressive colors and textures. Inspired by abstract expressionism and Mexican muralism.
